At Tinte Cellars we “raise a glass for good” to support important causes and organizations. Pride Month reminds us that love is love and together we walk a path towards equity and inclusion.
In 2017 Philadelphia Pride began to use a flag that, from top to bottom, included Black, Brown, red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. The inclusion of the black and brown stripes is meant to symbolize the queer people of color that have done so much for LGBTQIA activism but are traditionally kept out of the narrative of queer liberation and mainstream culture. The “Philadelphia Pride” flag is now an accepted Pride flag around the world as being a more inclusive symbol.
Not many people know that the Pride flag colors represent different concepts in the celebration of Pride. While modern Pride flags do not include all of the original colors, these are the meanings of the colors that remain:
Red = Life
Orange = Healing
Yellow = Sunlight
Green = Nature
Blue/Indigo = Serenity
Purple = Spirit
All June: Tinte Cellars values inclusivity and as an expression of our Pride, 5% of all jcoco chocolate sales will be donated to Gay City and we will accept donations to Gay City online and in our tasting rooms. All month we’ll encourage staff and guests to celebrate and wear Pride colors; our tasting rooms will be decorated with Pride flags; and we’ll shine a light on Pride in our social media messaging. During Pride Weekend, June 25-27, all customers will receive a Pride bracelet (while supplies last).
